Dogon Statue, Mali

Stunning male effigy standing on a circular base, bent legs, elongated folded arms, hands resting on the knees, body stretched forward. The angular shoulders and the cylindrical torso draw a geometric volume counterbalanced by a plump buttocks. The beautiful face inscribed in a helmet-shaped head, is dominated by an arrowhead nose, almond-shaped eyes, a small protruding mouth and hemmed ears. The sculpture is covered with a very beautiful dry and crusty patina, resulting from the multiple libations made with millet beer and shea butter.
