Fon Benin Fetiche

Superb home altar "fetiche" taking the form of a figure set in a round terracotta jar completely filled with mold and materials. The character is fully tied up and covered with sacrificial materials and pigments. A magic load covered with fabrics hangs on his back. We can identify the power of the fetiche from certain attributes, in this case the lightning voodoo Hevieso represented by the metal two-sided ax planted in the back and the undulating iron rods which represent Dan or Dangbé, a voodoo-snake, planted alongside and in the ground.
