Baoulé Female Statuette, Ivory Coast

Charming female statuette in archaic style, standing on a circular plinth, hands resting on her stomach. The volumes are compact and skillfully processed. The facial expression with stylized features is soft and moving. A pearl necklace adorns her neck. A magnificent dark patina covers the sculpture, revealing in some places the reddish patina of the bark-based mixture that served as the basis for the final patina.
