Charming statue of Mami Wata, mother goddess of water, half woman half fish, mythical and very popular figure of the Voodoo cult. Divinity who embodies both evil and good, feared by fishermen, eater of men who wanders in the African night under the guise of an attractive young woman or patron saint of prostitutes. She is depicted here as a beautiful young woman with generous curves brandishing a snake above her head. The face is marked by a sly little smile. The sculpture is covered with an old polychrome patina. Old repair to the right foot.
