Flûte/sifflet Anthropomorphe Bwa/Mossi, Burkina Faso

Beautiful flute flanked by two "arms" finely engraved with geometric designs highlighting the shapes of the neck, shaft and limbs. Magnificent deep honey patina literally varnished with use and black on the musician's bearing parts, which testifies to prolonged use. A transverse fixing hole has been drilled at the base of the instrument. This type of whistle accompanies in particular initiation ceremonies and agrarian festivals, and is also used for hunting.
Magnifique patine profonde miel littéralement vernie par l’usage et noire sur les parties d’appuis du musicien, qui témoigne d’une utilisation prolongée. Un trou transversal de fixation a été percé à la base de l’instrument.
Ce type de sifflets accompagne en particulier les cérémonies d’initiation et les fêtes agraires, et sont également utilisés pour la chasse.
